Today is April 2nd, 2019 and this morning I went for a walk along the Ookagawa river in Yokohama to enjoy the cherry blossoms blooming on the trees that line the river.
The reason I made note of today's date is for the people that see this and have the means to visit Yokohama to see this for themselves. I'd say the the trees are at about 50% and full bloom is a few days away. This coming weekend should be fantastic!
A boat is loaded with passengers to cruise up and down the river. It's the best way to view the blossoms.
Getting underway.
A lot of nice people are out here today to enjoy this springtime event.
There are several boats on the river.
Another nice person.
Getting up close with the blossoms.
Vendors set up booths along the river and sell all kinds of food and drinks.
It's early now, this will be very active later in the day.
They come and go.
There's plenty of room for everyone.
On the right side of the river one can see a lot of vender's booths.
Two charming women take turns photographing each other with the river in the background.
This boat had an entertainer sing and playing a guitar on the back end of the boat.
On the right side of this picture a red train is speeding along on an elevated section of train track. The view of the river from inside the train is quite spectacular.
A boat passing under one of the many bridges over the Ookagawa river.
After walking from Hinodecho to Koganecho I turned toward the Isezaki shopping street to find a place to eat lunch. It seems that everyone that visits the river is very nicely dressed.
After lunch I decided to walk along the Isezaki shopping street and do a little people watching.
This shopping street is very pedestrian friendly.
It's such a nice day.
Good friends.
After reaching the end of the shopping street it was time to return to the river for one last look before going home.
