Another day with the Fujinon XF 16mm f2.8 R WR lens

Here we go again! Another day with the Fujinon XF 16mm f2.8 R WR lens.

I love the versatility of this lens. I can move in real close for a people picture.

Or, I can step back a little bit and get a nice wide shot of a local bus.

I decided to check out the cherry trees in Yokohama park. I was looking down at my camera for just a few seconds and when I looked up this charming woman was moving toward me as if she was gliding on air. I managed to get this shot off just before she passed by.

The cherry blossom trees in Yokohama park are such a vibrant pink color.

Yokohama park is also the site of the Tulip festival. In the next few weeks this area will be exploding with blossoming tulips.

Some tulips are just beginning to bloom.

This group of yellow tulips are in a spot that gets a lot of sunshine. They're the earliest bloomers.

This cheery blossom tree near the parks Nihon Odori entrance is the more common pale pink color; common but no less beautiful than the neon pink trees.

I decided to check out this lens on existing light interior shots so I went down the street to visit the Port Opening Memorial Building; commonly refered to as "The Jack".

The theater inside the Jack is rarely open to the public but today there was some kind of performance by children going on and they forgot to lock the balcony entrance door. Lucky me.

The stain glass windows inside the Jack are brilliant.

The best part about the Jack is that the admission is free!

Moving on!

Yamashita park is always a good place to test op a new lens.

Looks like not everyone is as happy to be here as I am.

Another test of the wide angle performance.

Too the left of the picture is a weeping willow cherry blossom tree. This tree is very popular with the tourist. When you walk by it's like passing through a gauntlet of selfie-sticks.

It's such a nice spring day to be outside.

Perhaps this is the nicest day so far this year. Although it is a little windy.

Chinatown! Always a great place to put a new lens to the test.

Looking good!

Everybody is looking good!

Doing our own thing!

Her iPhone is acting like a reflector and illuminating her face.

Batter up?

Living the fancy free life.

Being a tourist is serious business.

There sure are a lot of girls here today. I'm not complaining.

Who's that behind the Foster Grants. If you get the reference it means you're as old as I am.

Passing back through Yokohama park.

In the background is the Yokohama Stadium - home of the Yokohama Baystars baseball team.

In the lower right side of this picture is the Yokohama Park public restroom. It's a very clean restroom.

Nice crosswalk.

We're moving out like a herd of turtles.

Late afternoon and things are starting to cool down.

Last shot of the day - a back street bar in Yoshida-cho.
As always...
Thanks for stopping by!
Mike
