Lunch date in Chinatown and walking around

Lunch in Yokohama's Chinatown can be really good and very cheap! There are over 250 restaurants to choose from.

From Monday to Friday many of the restaurants have lunch specials. The average price for a lunch special is 700 yen. At today's dollar to yen exchange rate that's only $4.79.

This is the restaurant we're going to eat at today. They specialize in spicy food from the northern region of China. Emi loves spicy food!

It's a hot and humid August day so we're drinking plenty of ice water while we wait for our food to come.

Lunch is served and...

Emi is happy!

Departing the restaurant after a very satisfying meal.

Now it's time to walk around Chinatown. There are a lot of street vendors that sell all kinds of sweets.

Chinatown is a popular tourist destination. This is a professional tour guide.

The streets are usually crowded with visitors.

Ice cream is always popular in the summer.

People walk around eating and drinking on the street. I always prefer to eat in a restaurant.

If you're a people watcher this is a great place to be.

There always seems to be more women visiting Chinatown than men.

A popular side street.

Young and old, all the age groups visit here.

Because of the blazing hot noontime sunshine, many ladies use parasols.

Baby, it's hot out here!

This girl has a parasol and a battery operated portable fan to help keep her cool.

A lot of young couples come here. Cheap date?

Sometimes the streets get so crowded you can hardly move forward. Today is not so bad.

These ladies are departing a restaurant. I think the one girl is feeling full.

There are several shops in Chinatown that sell Chinese food, spices, delicacies and Chinese wine.

This girl is probably looking at google maps to find the restaurant she wants to visit.

Many people dress up nicely to visit Chinatown.

Not far from Chinatown is Yamashita Park. I usually walk through the park on my way home.

Here we are at the Blueline Subway. Time to catch a train and go home!

Thanks for stopping by!
