Some Rain Must Fall

"Into each life some rain must fall"
--Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

It's a line from the Longfellow poem "The Rainy Day". I like a rainy day, it provides a nice atmosphere for photography. Things look different, people act different, the world is a different place all because of a little rain. These are some images I took on a recent rainy day in Yokohama.

Youth do not fear the rain, they embrace it.

I am not alone in my rainy day philosophy.

A walk in the park.

They bend but they do not break.

They're like upside-down umbrellas.

That's the spirit!

The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the mouldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.

-- Longfellow

My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the mouldering Past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.

--Longfellow

Drink to me

Where else would one want to be on a cold rainy day?

No other place than here of course.

"Rain drops keep falling on my head"
--Hal David

They fall on her head too!

Walking in the rain with the one I love

Just walking in the rain

Kneel to the Rain God

A rainy day in Yokohama

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.

--Longfellow

Nothing gets me down!

I walk for the love of it. Others are just getting where they need to go. Thus we are made of different stuff.
Like it or not, some rain will fall into every ones life - so get out there and enjoy it!

Thanks for stopping by!
Mike

  1. I'm going to have to pull this blog up at work. My students are studying flowers this month and they would love these pictures.
