Destination "Niigata" - July 2023 (Part 2)

Day 2! Things are going to be exciting!

Today's plan for Yuko and Yamato-kun is to go play golf. So, Emi, Hiroko and I decided to go view the Sasagawa Nagare Coastline on a sightseeing boat.

This is the port where the Sasakawa Flow Tourist Ship is moored.

And, this is the sightseeing course for the ship boat. They call it a ship, I call it a boat.

Parking was free, and buying a ticket was easy. Tickets are sold in this multi-purpose building. It's a restaurant, fish market, and tour boat business. I couldn't find a website for this place. I did find some info on this Enjoy Niigata website.

About twenty minutes later we were onboard the boat and heading out to sea for our 40 minute tour.

There are comfortable seats inside the boat or you can sit or stand outside on the back end of the boat.

We decided to stay out side. The view is much better out here.

The sightseeing has begun.

This is one of those situations where the pictures are never going to be as good as what it's like to be there.

Hiroko-san is checking out the scenery.

The ocean is quite lively and the boat rocks back and forth and up and down.

Big rock.

More coastal views.

The boat has a sound system and they tell us all sorts of interesting things about the area and what we're looking at.

It's hard to tell in the picture but this rock formation is supposed to be a dragon (or something) drinking water.

The boat crew announces that seagulls are coming and they are hungry!

The boat crew sells seagull snacks for 100 yen a bag. It's really bags of Calbee brand Kappa Ebisen; a tasty snack that humans enjoy too!

The seagulls are expecting to be fed.

And, we don't disappoint them. In the lower right corner of the picture you can see Hiroko-san's hand throwing a snack into the air.

Believe me, if you throw the snack into the air a seagull will catch and eat it.

This is exciting!

The boat keeps moving through the water and the seagulls follow us wherever we go.

We ran out of seagull snacks.

No problem for the seagulls. They visit the passengers that decided to sit inside the boat.

The seagulls are eating the snacks right out of their hands.

Well, the party's over and the boat starts to return to port.

The seagulls know that the party's over and they disappear.

We're getting closer to the pier.

Back at the pier and the brow is put in place so that the passengers can depart the boat.

Now the other passengers are getting off the boat too. By the way, the boat crew was very professional and friendly. I highly recommend that anyone visiting this part of Niigata take the boat tour. It's only 1200 yen per person and it's well worth the money.

As I take a picture of the boat...

Emi and Hiroko are already shopping!

Then we go inside the restaurant where the girls order oysters.

The oysters look delicious.

And, they don't last long.

Part 3 is coming soon!

Thanks for stopping by!
