Nobi Beach - The Concrete Beach

Nobi beach is not your typical beach. There is a lot of concrete here!

There is some sand here too, but it's not the nice white kind that children like to play on.

This is the kind of beach that is better suited for walking your dog, or reading a book.

I like Nobi beach. I'm fascinated with all the concrete steps, walls and blocks.

Tetrapod - A Tetrapod is a form of wave-dissipating concrete block used to prevent erosion caused by weather and longshore drift, primarily to enforce coastal structures such as seawalls and breakwaters.

There are Tetrapods everywhere in Nobi.

When I reached this part of Nobi beach I turned around and started working my way back to where I started. I think I'll come back here again with a different lens, something a little less wide.

Yeah, Nobi beach is pretty cool.

There are several breakwaters along the coast here.

Not very many people here today. It might have something to do with the heat.

Last shot of the first day: Looking down the coast toward Kurihama. Tetrapods for as far as the eye can see.

Day 2: Same camera, different lens.

Starting out where I stopped and turned around yesterday. It's very windy today.

Today I'm heading in the southern direction toward Miura City. I'm the only person here. Maybe I should take off my clothes and jump in the ocean. Nope.

Looking down the coast toward Miura.

The beach is covered with large stones.

And, concrete blocks. They look a little bit like headstones in a cemetery.

There's kind of a feeling of loneliness here.

The waves keep rolling in.

I decided to keep walking to Tsukuihama beach; I need the extra walking.

No shortage of concrete here too.

I'm facing the ocean, behind me is a small fish packing facility.

Some of the people working in the facility looked at me like I was crazy; maybe I am!

This beach is normally full of windsurfers; today it's just me.

I'm still standing behind the fish packing place. It's a nice view from here.

Maybe I should have called this post "Fun With Tetrapods".

They're what separates us from the ocean!

I just kept walking and I wound up at Miura beach.

Last shot of the day: Miura beach is always worth visiting but it's lunchtime and I need to find a place to eat!

Thanks for stopping by!
Mike
