Three Days on Jogashima Island with the GFX 50R

I visited Jogashima Island  on 3 different days with my Fujifilm GFX 50R camera, the Fujinon GF 30mm f3.5 lens and a tripod. I really like this little island. Fortunately for me it's easy to get here by train and bus.  For some people these pictures will probably all look the same. Hopefully others will go through them slowly and see the beauty of the uniquely rocky coast of the island. If you click on the image it should allow you to view it full screen and in a slide show like mode. I hope everyone enjoys viewing these images!

* Note - these are high resolution images and they may take time to load on your screen.

Day 1: Calm and a little cloudy.

There's a groups of SCUBA diving students in the lower right-hand corner.

Day 2: Fewer clouds and a little wind.

Day 3: Windy and sometimes wild!

The Yokohama Triathlon - and other stuff too!

Sunday in Yokohama and today is the day for the International Triathlon. After I got off the train in Hinodecho the first thing I saw were these three having fun on their paddle boards. From here it's about a twenty minute walk to Yamashita Park and that's where the Triathlon is being staged.

When I arrived at Yamashita park the triathlon was already in full swing.

Runners!

This guy happened to notice that I was taking his picture.

There is so much training for these athletes to be in shape to do a race like this.

These two guys are running past the rose garden.

The race is done in multiple stages. People are running, biking and swimming all at the same time.

Because of COVID it's been awhile since Yokohama staged an event like this. It takes a lot of planning and organizing to put together a triathlon.

Here come thy cyclists!

Powering through a hairpin turn.

A tight turn is a good place for an accident to happen. This group came through it alright.

It takes a lot of volunteers to make this happen. Yokohama city is very good at pulling off big events.

Cyclists heading for the transition area.

This guy was in mid transition.

Bike racks.

Well, I'd seen enough so off I went to the Harbor View park. This was pretty funny. Two young mothers were posing their daughters in the English garden. The one daughter sat perfectly still for the picture while the other kept popping up and walking around.

Down to Motomachi and it's starting to rain.

It started to rain pretty heavy so I went to a restaurant in China Town for lunch. By the time I finished lunch the rain had stopped.

I like taking pictures just after it rains.

People are happiest just after the rain. Okay, I don't know if that's true but it sounds good.

Maybe she's pointing at the man she loves.

This guy is impressing his date by reading his own palm.

He doesn't read palms, he reads texts.

Passing through Yokohama Park on my way back to the train station. Sometimes a group picture can be like herding kittens.

Curb walking.

Smoke'em if you've got'em.

Last shot of the day: The beautiful mystery woman.
