A day in the life - The Spring Equinox - 2021

Today was the the Spring Equinox so of course I went out to take pictures.

Nothing says goodbye winter hello spring like tulips in bloom.

These tulips are blooming in Yokohama park all around the baseball stadium.

They're just getting started now and should be going strong for the next few weeks.

Some of the chery blossom trees are looking good too.

The difference between a professional Gardner and ordinary slobs like us is the hardhat and the safety cones. Other than that it's just a guy watering the flowers.

Spring makes everyone happy.

The warm weather brings out the cyclists.

And, the motor cyclists.

Springtime means we can put the top down on our Porsche Boxster and let the wind blow in our hair.

That is if you own a Porsche Boxster.

Saturday in the Park.

Yamashita park that is.

Couples love spring.

They hold hands.

They laugh!

They patently wait while one of them texts a friend about their new hat.

Back to the tulips.

This is why I love Yokohama!

Every year they plant the bulbs so that in the Spring we can enjoy this.

Admission to the park is free!

Bring a date, it's wonderful.

There's a baseball game today. This is a crossing guard in front of the stadium. When the traffic signal changes he'll swing into action to guarantee the safety of the people crossing the street to get to the stadium. The signal is changing now!

There he goes!

Local baseball fans showing their pride by wearing their team's colors.

Springtime in the Odori park and day drinking go hand in hand.

Passing through the busy shopping street at Yokohama Bashi.

Yokohama Bashi is not a posh upscale shopping district.

It's a place for the everyday people to shop.

We stopped to buy some chicken from our favorite chicken shop. I peered into the shop to see one of the ladies preparing some fried chicken.

The covered shopping street is lined with a variety of shops and restaurants.

This is a place where the older folks out number the younger ones.

Working our way to Koganecho train station. It's been a wonderful day and now it's time to go home.

Our train has arrived!

Thanks for stopping by!
Mike
