Destination - Misasa Onsen

Misasa Onsen is a beautiful little town in Tottori prefecture, Japan. We spent the night here and in the morning we went out for a walk around the town.

A bridge over the Mitoku River. The river runs through the middle of the town.

The Mitoku river.

This is the famous Kawara-buro public bath. It was used in the movie "Themae Romae".

A different view of  Kawara-buro. This bath is in plain view of anyone crossing the bridge and it is usually full of people.

Emi's checking her town map as we explore the town.

The roads are narrow and interesting.

Hot spring water runs freely 24/7 in the center of town. It fills a foot bath that is open for all to enjoy.

A rice field on the edge of town.

Rice has been cropped and is hanging to dry.

A small shrine surrounded by large trees.

Emi pauses to pray.

After and enjoyable walk we returned to our hotel "Saiki Bekkan"

Destination - Kurashiki City! (Okayama Prefecture, Japan)

 We recently visited Kurashiki.

Per Google: Kurashiki is a city on Japan’s Seto Inland Sea. It’s known for the centuries-old buildings and shops of the Bikan Historical Quarter. Boats cruise the district’s narrow central canal.

Let's check it out!

Students volunteer to be tour guides.

One of the main attractions is the canal that runs through the middle of the town.

It's a long story but the bottom line is that the ceramic roof tiles on this structure cost a fortune.

The town is full of narrow streets like this one.

The post tops of this stone bride are adorned with Chrysanthemums.

Our tour guide.

He's making a point.

The tour boat has arrived!

Another narrow street.

The boat tour looks like fun but we didn't have time to do it.

This town is very picturesque.

Another stone bridge.

Time for the boatmen to take a coffee break.

Last shot of our Kurashiki visit: A charming young lady wearing a beautiful kimono.

All images were made with a Fujifilm X100V camera.
