Inatori in the Morning

We spent Saturday night in Inatori (Izu Peninsula) and the next morning I went down to the waterfront where the fishing boats tie up and took a few pictures.

This is not a typical morning. These are some crazy looking skies.

I've seen pink Cadillacs but not a pink fishing boat.

Throw me a line...

This does not look like a good day to head out to sea.

Since it's Sunday morning maybe it's a day off for the SS Minnow.

The smaller boats are over here.

I guess this guy didn't get the word about today being a day off.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hama in the Morning, Hama In the Evening

OK, I started out the day in Yokohama and then I ended the day in Kurihama. And, this is what I encountered along the way.

This is an uncommon site - a phone booth.

When I swung by the red brick area I found that they had set up the ice skating ring for the winter, and, quite a crowd was already enjoying the ice.

Next up I passed through the Zao No Hana water front and found that it was not nearly as crowded as I expected.

In fact, I had the place all to myself. The gas lamp makes a good sun dial.

Once I reached Yamashita Park the colorful people were coming out in all sorts of colors!

A white rose in the park was a welcome absence of color.

My old friend, Yokohama Stadium.

Typical street scenes in Noge as I work my way to Hinodecho station.

I caught an express train from Yokohama to Kurihama and started to make my way from the station to the beach.

At last, the familiar waterfront at Kurihama beach.

Very relaxing, I sat down and enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the boat landing.

Some signs are worth reading.

A last look at the bay before I visit my brother-in-law

Alright, one more look then I'm really off to visit!

Thanks for stopping by!

Peaceful Kurihama

I was killing some time in Kurihama so of course I took some pictures. It was near the end of the day and some fishing men were returning home.

Hmmm... a little basic seamanship could have prevented this mishap. Need a little more slack in the mooring lines.

It's also that time of day when kids are going home from school.

Down by the beach the power plant smoke stacks strike a dramatic pose.

A view of the Boso peninsula from the Kurihama beach.

Most people like the beach in summer, I prefer to walk along the beach in winter.

The monument to Commodore Perry.

The Commodore's clock?

A nice little seaside restaurant.

Safety first!

The car ferry heads to sea.

Looks like I'm not the only one killing time.

Same stacks, different view.

More guys coming home for the night.

I must admit, Kurihami is a nice place to pass the time away.

Thanks for stopping by!
