Shooting with a film camera

A small voice in my head said "get a film camera and some film". I don't know why after all these years of shooting with a digital camera I would return to film. I do know one thing, I've been spoiled by the convenience of a digital camera - everything is figured out for you - point & shoot - done! My new Voigtlander rangefinder is really old school, everything is manual; one really needs to slow down and think things through before pressing the shutter button. Anyway, here are some images that took with some Fuji color print film and then scanned so that I could post them here.

The Bashamichi Taproom. I'm told that this is a nice place to get a bite to eat and a cold beer.

I won't be finding out about that today - they're closed.

I think I need to get a few more rolls of film run through the camera before I'll be satidfying my artistic innener child with the results. However, it's the process of creating images with film that is exciting me. And, hopfully there will be some improvment in the pictures with some experience with the camera and the film.

Merry Swinging Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! I was out and about enjoying the day when I happened to arrive at a swinging little jazz combo playing in the mall. Even Santa was playing some notes.

Some fans are enjoying the music too!

Meanwhile, Emi is in a Chinese restaurant wondering when her food will come.

Isezaki Mall Street Concert

It's beginning to feel a bit like Christmas, at least it did yesterday when I saw these kids giving a concert at the Isezaki Mall.

Afterwards, Emi and I decided to go to the top of the Yokohama Marine Tower and check out the view.

My new range finder camera (it uses film).

Some of the pictures have reflections from the glass windows - can't help that :-)

 The rest of the pictures from this day were taken with a film camera and will take a few days for me to get them processed and scanned.

Same places, new faces - Yokohama

Yes, another stroll around Yokohama. While winter is here and it is cold; last Sunday was nice and sunny.

At this point the sun was almost to bright causing shadows and bright spots.

Not sure what the man on the right is thinking. Maybe something along the line of "honey, how can I apologize when I don't even know what I did wrong".

Rickshaw operator points out something of interest to a couple enjoying sightseeing in style.

After leaving China town I headed over to Aka Renga Soko (Red Brick Warehouse) and was surprised to see that an ice skating rink had been set up.

Next up I went to Isezakicho and found a street performer singing outside my favorite Izakaya (drink/eat place).

As the sun starts to go down the cold gets quite colder so I head back to Yokosuka. When I got off the express train and was waiting for a local, I noticed that the platform attendants were attractive young ladies. I seem to notice that sort of thing.

I'm on board and the doors about to shut. I guess that passenger is waiting for the next express.
